Program Note
I wrote This Path We Walk as a wedding gift for my friends Isadel & E.B. Saunter. The couple selected “Saunter” as a new, chosen last name, inspired by many long walks in the woods, through which they got to know each other and fell in love. E.B. proposed to Isadel on one of their forest walks, in the Middlesex Fells Reservation, a place that is near to my heart as well. I hued the melody from a musical anagram of their maiden initials (EB-IE).
